Pacific Park To Highlight Los Angeles Lakers Game 6 on the Pacific Wheel

Published on October 9, 2020

Lakers Legend Kobe Bryant will also receive a tribute in the light program scheduled for Sunday, October 11th

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier will show its support for the Los Angeles Lakers and their fans as the Pacific Wheel will be lit in purple and gold and feature animations of purple and gold hearts, “Go Lakers” and the numbers “8” and “24” in remembrance of Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant, to whom the team has dedicated this NBA title run.

The Los Angeles Lakers lead the Miami Heat 3 to 2 in this year’s NBA Finals and will face off again on Sunday, October 11, in Orlando, FL. If the Lakers win this game, they will clench the 2020 NBA title, the 17th time doing so. This win would also tie the Boston Celtics in most NBA titles for a team and be their first championship win since 2010.

The Pacific Wheel’s 174,000 LED lights are mounted on the Ferris wheel’s structure including the 40 spokes and two hubs. The world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel’s lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations while the programming and display software presents imaging up to 24 frames per second to display dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment. The eco-friendly, enhanced LED lighting provides 81 percent greater energy savings than most Ferris wheel’s traditional incandescent bulbs.
