Ring in the New Year from the comfort of home: Pacific Park Presents “The West Coast New Year’s Eve Countdown To 2021 on The Pacific Wheel” virtual celebration

Stay at home this New Year’s Eve and watch the West Coast’s countdown to 2021 online and streaming on social media from Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. The “West Coast New Year’s Eve Countdown 2021 on The Pacific Wheel” streams live on December 31, beginning at 11:30 PM, and will feature fun designs, colorful displays, and a 60 second countdown in huge animated numbers on the Pacific Wheel. Following the countdown, the Ferris wheel will display “Happy New Year” in 16 different languages including Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Portuguese, and Japanese.

Connect with others across the globe virtually in the chat while you countdown the end of 2020 together. This special New Year’s Eve light program can also be seen on our live-streaming webcams which show beautiful views of the Park and Pier 24-hours a day.

In addition to streaming this live countdown at home, you can invite others to join in on the fun using any popular screen share or virtual meeting platform. Zoom is currently offering free, unlimited meetings on New Year’s Eve so you can enjoy their virtual meeting platform with no limits on the duration of your video call (free Zoom accounts are usually capped at meetings that last just 40 minutes). If you don’t have a Zoom account yet, its free to sign up, works on any computer or the free Zoom app for mobile phones and tablets. Once you start our stream on YouTube or our webcam page, you can “Share your screen” so that everyone in your Zoom meeting can see the countdown all at once.

The Pacific Wheel’s 174,000 LED lights are mounted on the Ferris wheel’s structure including the 40 spokes and two hubs. The world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel’s lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations displaying dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment.

The Santa Monica Pier was reopened to guests in June, but will be closed to the public on New Year’s Weekend.
