Java lovers unite – National Coffee Day is taking place on Wednesday, September 29th 2021.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier will celebrate the day by offering one free regular size brewed coffee with the purchase of a fresh pastry item, while supplies last.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on the Pier is located by the Pacific Park food court. Just head straight down the main boardwalk area of the Pier, and you’ll see The Coffee Bean and your left side. This special National Coffee Day offer is valid on 9/29/21 only, while supplies last.

National Coffee Day was first celebrated in Japan in 1983, and is now celebrated globally as a way to promote fair trade coffee and raise awareness for coffee farmers.

While the exact origin of coffee is unknown, legend has it coffee was first discovered in the Ethiopian highlands by Kaldi the goat herder who noticed his goats became very energetic after eating berries from a certain tree. Kaldi shared his findings with the abbot of the local monastery, who tried it himself and then went on to spread the word of the energizing effects of the berries. Word continued to spread throughout the country and eventually made its way to Europe and then to the United States, becoming the most popular drink around the world.
