2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Santa Monica

The 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Santa Monica, CA will take place on Sunday, October 24th.

The Alzheimer’s Association hosts a Walk to End Alzheimer’s annually at more than 600 communities nationwide and is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. It will take place in Santa Monica on Sunday, October 24th 2021, with a 2 mile route that starts and ends at the Santa Monica Pier.

Those wishing to participate in the Walk must register either online beforehand or onsite on the morning of the event. There is no registration fee to walk but the Association asks that every participant make a personal donation and commit to raising funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is full of flowers, each carried by a participated who is committed to ending this disease. The so-called Promise Garden Flowers vary in color that participants can choose depending on what best represents their connection to the disease.

  • Blue represents someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia
  • Purple is for those who have lost someone to the disease
  • Yellow represents someone who is currently supporting or caring for a person living with Alzheimer’s
  • Orange is for those who support the cause and the Association’s vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia

Alzheimer’s is a progressive neurological disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions in individuals who have it. It is the most common cause of dementia, effecting more than 6 million Americans. Currently no cure exists, but medications and management strategies may temporarily improve symptoms.
