Santa Monica Pier Honors Black History Month with Ferris wheel Lights

The Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel will be lit red, green, and yellow on Friday, February 4 in recognition of Black History Month and Rosa Parks Day.
Every February, people across the nation celebrate Black History Month to honor the history, diversity, and achievements that have been accomplished by the Black community nationwide. This Friday, February 4th, Pacific Park joins the City of Santa Monica in celebrating Black History Month and Rose Parks Day by lighting up the Pacific Wheel in red, green, and yellow. This will be just the start of a variety of events held in the city of Santa Monica that highlights the cultural traditions of Black families and individuals. The Ferris wheel lights can be seen from dusk until 11:35 PM; enjoy watching the light program online at www.pacpark.com/live.
This month’s virtual events include a virtual Black Health and Wellness seminar on the 3rd, a TikTok Dance instruction with Jamal Josef on the 15th, an Art Reception and Art walk on the 19th, an Awards Ceremony celebrating Black Excellence on the 24th, and so much more. The theme for Black History Month 2022 is Black Health and Wellness and is set each year by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The theme to focus on preventative care, a focus on body positivity, physical exercise, and nutrition, as well as, honoring the resilience of Black individuals in the medical community.
