Rams Super Bowl LVI Win Celebrated on the Ferris wheel in Santa Monica

Santa Monica Pier to Show Rams Lights in Blue and Yellow following the Team’s Win at Super Bowl LVI.
Pacific Park will once again show the Rams colors in a special light program on the world-famous Pacific Wheel. Towering 12 stories over the shimmering Pacific Waters, the Ferris wheel will show a special light program in the Rams yellow and blue and features designs and animations including the team mascot and helmet. The lights come on shortly after dusk and will run until midnight on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Other celebrations in LA include a victory parade for the Rams scheduled to take place in Downtown LA. According to Reuters, Rams Chief Operating Officer Kevin Demoff said the parade will start at the Shrine Auditorium and end at L.A. Memorial Coliseum, where a rally will be held in the peristyle-end plaza outside the stadium. The parade route will carry players down Jefferson Boulevard, Figueroa Street, and Exposition Park Drive before ending at the Coliseum. Tinsel town is not missing on the action; a report out Sunday stated that the Hollywood sign will be temporarily changed to read, “Ram’s House”.
The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23 to 20 in Sunday’s Super Bowl LVI. It was the 8th time the Super Bowl was held in Los Angeles, including the first Super Bowl in 1967 which took place at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The most recent Super Bowl was almost 30 years ago when the Dallas Cowboys defeat the Buffalo Bills at the Rose Bowl in 1993.
This was the first of what is expected to be many Super Bowls to be held at the new 5.5 billion-dollar SoFi stadium in Inglewood where the Rams play during regular season competition. The NFL regularly moves the Super Bowl around to different stadiums – usually indoor “dome” stadiums or outdoor stadiums in cities where the February weather can be expected to be warm like Miami and Dallas. Since the host cities are determined well before regular season play, Super Bowl LVI marks only the second time in NFL history where a home team has hosted and won the championship.
Los Angeles is celebrating in ways that only LA can: the Super Bowl LVI halftime show featured hip-hop founders and icons Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre – both LA natives. Their show celebrated LA neighborhoods Compton and Inglewood, where the game took place. Prior to the game, buildings all over LA from Downtown to Santa Monica were lit in blue and gold; the tens-of-thousands of tourists visiting LA to be a part of the Super Bowl and surrounding events took in sweeping city skylines outlined in Rams blue. Following the win, the Pacific Wheel in Santa Monica announced “Rams Win” in 30-foot-high letters. In the days following the big game, the Hollywood Sign will read “Rams House” in letters high above Hollywood Boulevard and the City of Los Angeles will host a victory parade in the neighborhoods adjacent to Downtown and the historic Memorial Coliseum where the Rams played their first 3 seasons back in LA.
Pacific Park’s special light program on the Ferris wheel will run two more nights this week. The program runs all night long starting at dusk until about midnight. The program features Rams colors, icons, and insignias as well as the team mascot. Enjoy watching the light program online at www.pacpark.com/live.

Pacific Park regularly programs the Ferris wheel to display seasonal programing and themed light designs for holidays and special occasions. The Pacific Wheel’s state-of-the-art lighting package was installed in 2016 and can display over 1.6 million different colors and animate patterns and icons in 24 frames per second. The energy efficient LEDs on the face of the Ferris wheel are powered by solar arrays inside Pacific Park. The light programs are curated and designed by Pacific Park staff. Each design is manually animated; some designs can take hours of programming. The aim is to provide fun, high-energy, and sometimes whimsical designs to entertain guests on the Santa Monica Pier and surrounding beaches.
