BLACKPINK lights the Ferris wheel on Santa Monica Pier Bright Pink

The Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel will be lit pink on Thursday, August 18 the celebrate the release of BLACKPINKs new album, ‘Born Pink’.
Korean pop sensation, BLACKPINK, is debuting their first album in over two years, ‘Born Pink’.
The project name portrays the unrivaled presence of the group that will take over the music scene with their one and only charisma. Fans’ expectations are already running high as YG is notified of a double title, not to mention the strong message the comeback project title conveys. As BLACKPINK’s comeback as a whole group comes in about a year and 10 months, and two music videos have been produced with the highest production cost so far, fans are expecting the group to reach astonishing results with their new album. In fact, BLACKPINK has been sweeping major charts both home and abroad with their new songs, but they’ve also been reaching various first, best, and most titles on YouTube. This shows their influence as the group with the most number of subscribers on YouTube among all male and female artists around the world.
YG said “We’ve prepared special activities that live up to the girls’ reputation as a top artists, apart from the revealed schedules. The girls are determined to pay back the love global fans have been showing them”.
In partnership with Interscope Records, which is based here in Santa Monica, Pacific Park will light the Wheel pink on the evening of Thursday, August 18.
Other landmarks across the country and internationally will also be lit pink for this promotional event celebrating the pop group’s new album.

Pacific Park regularly programs the Ferris wheel to display seasonal programing and themed light designs for holidays and special occasions. The Pacific Wheel’s state-of-the-art lighting package was installed in 2016 and can display over 1.6 million different colors and animate patterns and icons in 24 frames per second. The energy efficient LEDs on the face of the Ferris wheel are powered by solar arrays inside Pacific Park. The light programs are curated and designed by Pacific Park staff. Each design is manually animated; some designs can take hours of programming. The aim is to provide fun, high-energy, and sometimes whimsical designs to entertain guests on the Santa Monica Pier and surrounding beaches.
