Santa Monica Honors ‘Local Heroes’ At Last ‘Locals’ Night’ On The Santa Monica Pier, SMPAL Kicks-Off Evening With Rick Crocker 5k Walk-Run

It will be fun and games along with a heartfelt moment of respect as Santa Monica honors its “Local Heroes” and the life of an American hero, revered Santa Monica Police officer and Santa Monica resident, Officer Ricardo Crocker, at the Santa Monica Pier on Thursday, May 16 starting at 3:30 p.m. The evening begins with the Santa Monica Pier’s last “Locals’ Night” from 3:30-10 p.m. that will feature unforgettable activities and entertainment including a car show, youth activities, local DJs, live music from local bands, and much more; all presented at multiple locations throughout the Pier. Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) will present the “4th Annual Rick Crocker 5K,” a walk-run at 4 p.m. Check-in for participants will be on the pier deck just behind the Santa Monica Pier Carousel at 200 Santa Monica Pier. The 5K-course travels south on Ocean Front Walk to the Bay Street loop then proceeds northbound on Ocean Front Walk to the Montana Stairs Parking Lot, turns around finishing back in behind the Carousel. Participants are met with enthusiastic crowds and the Santa Monica Police and Fire Departments provide additional support with displays of their patrol cars, fire trucks and other emergency response vehicles. During the “Locals’ Night” celebration, Santa Monica will honor its “Local Heroes” with a welcoming recognition ceremony and gift presentation at approximately 5 p.m. Santa Monica’s “Local Heroes” include those individuals that put everything on the line for the welfare of the Santa Monica community including Police Officers and Fire Fighters.
