Each week during the annual Twilight on the Pier, you can experience the music, art, and comedy representing a different culture. This week, the theme is Island Tides, celebrating Caribbean culture and artists. During Island Tides on September 11th, the comedians you can see performing at Pacific Park’s Seaside Pavilion are Chris Garcia, Robin Tran, Demar Randy and Mike Menendez. Ken Garr will be the host of the comedy line-up starting at 6:30pm on the Santa Monica Pier.
Headliner Mike Menendez was the winner of the 2017 Hoboken Comedy Festival in New Jersey. He has also written and performed for Tyler the Creator’s Golf Media app. You can experience a taste of his stand-up in the clip below:
Also performing during Island Tides is Chris Garcia, who has appeared on Comedy Central’s @Midnight, Adam Devine’s House Party, and has his own Comedy Central Presents half-hour stand-up special. Garcia also has a podcast, “The WTF Podcast” he hosts with Marc Maron. Robin Tran is the next comedian in the line-up, who is a writer on Netflix’s Historical Roasts, and has appeared on the TV show Comedy Invasion. Comedian Demar Randy has performed stand-up numerous times at The Laugh Factory. He also has appeared on Netflix’s Concrete Roses.
The host for the evening is Ken Garr. He is the host of “The Kym & Ken Show” on Dash Radio, and is the creator and producer of the monthly show “Long Hard Sets” at the Hollywood Improv. Garr has also been featured on Sirius XM Radio, Fox, HULU, and Comedy Central. He can also be seen regularly performing at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club. This is the first time a full line up of stand-up comedians has been planned for Twilight on the Pier. The comedy stage will be located in Pacific Park’s Seaside Pavilion, which is located on the west end of the amusement park next to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The comedy stage is 21+ and doors open around 6PM, and runs until about 9pm.
Twilight on the Pier runs every Wednesday evening from August 21 – September 25th. This is a free event with plenty of activities for all guests including live music on the Twilight main stage, fun Instagrammable moments and art throughout the Pier, and more performance art at the west end.
