Opera at the Beach

Published on September 27, 2019

The Los Angeles Opera returns to the Santa Monica Pier with The LA Opera at the Beach livestream of “La Bohème” being performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Be transported to the bustling café’s and hidden corners of 19th-century Paris in Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème. The opera will be transmitted live in high-definition video from nine cameras at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to a large LED screen on the Santa Monica Pier.

The huge screen is erected on the Pier’s parking deck behind the historic merry-go-round building. Access the pier deck from the beach by taking the stairs behind the Pier across from Big Deans. This area also has an accessible ramp. If coming from Downtown Santa Monica or the Metro, walk down the Pier bridge, then turn left after The Albright. The open seating area is first come, first serve. Folding beach chairs and blankets are recommended.

Once at the Pier, enjoy food for purchase at any of the popular pier restaurants including made-to-order pizzas from the Pacific Wheel Pizza Company inside Pacific Park or seafood sandwiches from The Albright.

This is a free event open to the public, although guests who RSVP at LAOpera.org will be eligible for a FREE GIFT while supplies last. Those who sign up can also receive attendance tips and updates on activities, food, performances and more. Additional information about the performance is available in their downloadable show program.
