The American Film Market Returns to Santa Monica

Published on November 4, 2019

What is the American Film Market?

The annual American Film Market (AFM) is coming back to Santa Monica November 6-13, 2019. The AFM is a film acquisition, development, and networking event with 7,000 industry professionals from more than 70 countries. Each year at AFM over $1 billion in deals are made on films in various stages of production. In addition to networking and being able to discover an enormous catalog of film projects, there will also be dozens of conferences and roundtables with the independent film community.

What to Expect at the American Film Market

During the American Film Market, screenings of over 300 feature films take place over the course of the event. Industry professionals will give advice and insights during the conferences. There will also be an Expo at AFM that explores feature film commissions, facilities and government agencies and opportunities to network.

There are also roundtables that will have open-ended discussions on specialized topics, as well as a writers workshop, where participants can learn more on shaping their screenplays in a way that will resonate with studios and investors. In addition, there will be an opportunity to explore The Film Catalogue, which has over 10,000 films and projects available for sale from AFM companies.
