No Kid Hungry, a national campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America, will be hosting a Powered by Breakfast Pop Up Playground event to raise awareness of the importance of school breakfast for kids.

When:  Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Where:  Santa Monica Pier, Central Plaza (adjacent to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.)

200 Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica, CA, 90401

Cost: Free!

This public experiential pop-up will take locals through an interactive journey of how breakfast fuels a kid’s future. As families enter the pop-up playground, they will find a merry-go-round that directs them to one of five color-coded activities. These activities range from an over-sized cereal bowl where students can jump in and dig into breakfast, to an interactive magnetic wall encouraging kids to dream big. These were designed to evoke inspirational feelings of what is possible for kids when they have access to breakfast every day.

Attendees will then have a chance to join No Kid Hungry in standing up for kids by signing an Open Letter to America’s children. Los Angeles’ own chef Valerie Gordon will be in attendance to chat about breakfast and demo a recipe. There will be a photo booth, dance station, swag, as well as product giveaways on-site.

No child should go hungry in America, but 1 in 5 kids will face hunger this year. Using proven, practical solutions, No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger today by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. When we all work together, we can make sure kids get the healthy food they need. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength. Join at NoKidHungry.org.
