Pacific Park is a popular filming location in Los Angeles for Instagrammers, YouTubers, and Hollywood productions alike. There is good reason that Pacific Park is the most Instagrammed location in Los Angeles, according to data released by Instagram in 2017. The sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean hemmed by the sandy Los Angeles beaches from Palos Verdes to Point Dume in Malibu; the iconic Ferris wheel spinning overhead; the bright colors and high energy of the Park’s authentic midway all make for an exciting and visually stunning locations to tell fun, heart-warming, and even thrilling stories on screens large and small.
The Park allows amateur photographers to use their hand-held cameras in the Park as they enjoy their visit. However, advance notice is required for any filmmakers bringing in crew, specialized equipment like lights, boom mics and tripods. For larger productions with crew in need of space for base camps, parking, and other special arrangements, Pacific Park’s office of Filming and Locations can assist with making arrangements and acquiring appropriate permitting from the various departments in the City of Santa Monica and Film LA.
