The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is back in Santa Monica, taking place on Saturday, October 23 2021. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The American Cancer Society hosts Making Strides walks in hundreds of different locations nationwide.
The Walk in Santa Monica starts right here at the Santa Monica Pier, with the course opening at 8AM through 11AM. The walk with be followed by a celebration on the East end of the Santa Monica Pier parking deck, as well.
New in 2021, there is no day-of registration site or check-in. Participants should register ahead of time online and will be ready to walk on event day. If you are unable to sign up ahead of time online, they will have QR codes available at the Pier on the event day to register. ACS asks everyone to donate prior to the event date, as well, but they will have donation stations onsite to accept any cash donations.
The walk is open for all ages to register, with the proceeds going towards the American Cancer Society. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks began in 1993, and since then more than 13 million walkers have raised more than $810 million for the American Cancer Society. The funds are then used for innovative breast cancer research, providing free support to those affected by breast cancer, helping people in all communities take steps towards reducing the risk of breast cancer, and supporting patients who are in recovery. You can learn more about all of their breast cancer programs here.
