Norah Jones’ New Music Video, “Paradise”
Published on March 26, 2024
Discover the world of Norah Jones’ latest album “Visions” and its music video for the song “Paradise,” set against the backdrop of Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier.
Singer, songwriter, and pianist Norah Jones has released her newest album Visions along with the official music video for the song “Paradise.” Visions also features the songs “All This Time,” “Staring at the Wall,” “Queen of the Sea,” “Visions,” “Running,” “I Just Wanna Dance,” “I’m Awake,” “Swept Up in the Night,” “On My Way,” “Alone with My Thoughts” and “Life.” Visions is Jones’ first non-holiday album since Pick Me Up Off the Floor which was released in June 2020.
“The reason I called the album Visions is because a lot of the ideas came in the middle of the night or in that moment right before sleep, and ‘Running’ was one of them where you’re half asleep and kind of jolted awake,” Jones previously told her label, Blue Note.
All the joy in the “Paradise” music video is set in Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier! Jones is seen riding the West Coaster, playing our midway games, and eating cotton candy. All the things kids look forward to when visiting the amusement park. And of course, it can’t be a Norah Jones music video without seeing her play the piano. Jones plays, sings, and dances with her childhood self and friend while the Pacific Wheel spins in the background.
Diving deeper into production, “Paradise” holds fascinating details and surprises with every twist and turn, just like the West Coaster. To create the feeling of nostalgia, shots were filmed with the song playing at a heightened speed which was later slowed down to create a mesmerizing effect throughout the video. One of the most thrilling visuals are the scenes on the West Coaster. It’s surprising to know that mounting a camera for those shots consumed a significant amount of time even though it is one of the least time-consuming aspects. As if having an amusement park to yourself isn’t exciting enough, the filming took place on the morning of Super Bowl Sunday, adding an extra layer of excitement to the production. Especially for the the actress playing “Little Norah” who would be starring in a Super Bowl commercial later that day!
