The Ferris wheel at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier joins other national landmarks by lighting red for one night to raise awareness for the Hope for Henry Foundation on Friday, October 25th.

The Hope for Henry Foundation seeks to impact how hospitals care for seriously ill children and their families through innovative programs that entertain, reduce stress, and empower children to be active participants in their own care. The foundation raises funds and partners with committed hospitals to embed professional child life teams whose round-the-clock commitment to the children make them the real superheroes of the organization. Since 2003, Hope for Henry’s comprehensive, year-round program has served more than 45,000 children.

On Friday, October 25th, the foundation celebrates National Hope for Henry Day, one day each year designated to raise awareness for the non-profit agency. Other landmarks across the country will join in on this special lighting event. The Hope for Henry Foundation seeks to help even more children in the coming by years by building awareness of the impact and opportunities the Foundation provides to children and hospitals.

The Pacific Wheel has become an icon on the Southern California coastline and is regularly featured in film, TV shows, and daily newscasts in the Southland. The Wheel’s state-of-the-art LED lighting system can display a wide-array of colors that can be programmed to display animated patterns and images. This programming can take just a couple of hours or several days depending on the specificity of the request. The prominence of the Wheel presents an opportunity for organizations like Hope for Henry to quickly gain notoriety and media attention by arranging for a special lighting at the Santa Monica Pier. Additionally, all major news broadcasters have access to live-streaming cameras facing the Ferris wheel and Pier making coverage of these events simple and engaging. However, due to the volume of requests and unique nature of the Wheel’s lighting arrangement, not all requests can be met. Learn more about sponsorships at the Santa Monica Pier.
