The Film Independent Spirit Awards will return to Santa Monica on Saturday, February 8, 2020 in a beach side tent just steps away from the sand and right next door to the world famous Santa Monica Pier. This event marks the show’s 35th anniversary celebrating and honoring some of the year’s most acclaimed films and filmmakers within the independent film community.

From Jan. 28 to Feb. 14, the popular Lot 1 North beach parking lot adjacent to the Pier will be transformed into an extravagant award show location, complete with a tent and red carpet that will occupy the majority of the lot’s parking spaces. Visitors of Pacific Park are encouraged to arrive via public transportation or to consider parking in other Santa Monica beach lots that are also located close to the Pier. Every year during the Spirit Awards, top talents are brought together to be recognized in a number of award categories including Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Feature. These winners are chosen by Film Independent Members who not only select who the awards go to, but also attend free screenings of all nominated films beforehand! Members include filmmakers, industry leaders, and film enthusiasts- the opportunity to become a member and receive additional year-round benefits is available to anyone passionate about films.
