Twilight on the Pier Comedy with Tehran at Pacific Park, an Evening of Laughs Hosted By Omid Singh

Each week during the annual Twilight on the Pier, a different culture is represented and celebrated! This week’s theme is Middle East Beats, featuring comedians Ehsan Ahmad, Reem Edan, Zahra Ali and Tehran who will be performing this Wednesday, September 4th at Pacific Park’s Seaside Pavilion (located next to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf) as part of Twilight on the Pier. Omid Singh will be the host of the Middle East Beats comedy line-up starting at 6:30pm on the Santa Monica Pier.

Headliner Tehran is the host and producer of a couple weekly shows at The Laugh Factory, including Comedy Bazaar which is the longest running Middle Eastern comedy show in the world. He is also the co-host of a weekly XM Dash radio show and iTunes podcast called “Imperfect Gentlemen.” Tehran has appeared on Comedy Central and Def Comedy Jam on HBO. Also performing during Middle East Beats is Ehsan Ahmad, who was previously a finalist on the SF Comedy Competition, and currently has a podcast called “Spoil the Beans.” Reem Edan is the next comedian in the line-up, who has performed at iconic venues including The World-Famous Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory, and the Gotham Improv. She is also a content creator on Elizabeth Banks’ WhoHaha. Next up will be Zahra Ali, who was featured in the Best of Roast Battle at The World Famous Comedy Store, and can be seen in the upcoming season of Amazon’s “Flores and Friends.”
The host for the night will be Omid Singh, who began his career by studying at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Since then, his career has had a wide range, from being featured in Ben Affleck’s 2012 film Argo, to creating a short film called Subway which was voted Audience Award winner at the annual No Budget Film Festival, to his current comedy ventures. Singh has since co-created the podcast Story Poker as well as The Patiocast, which films weekly at The Comedy Store. You can get a preview of his stand-up work here:
This is the first time a full line up of stand-up comedians has been planned for Twilight on the Pier. The comedy stage will be located in Pacific Park’s Seaside Pavilion, which is located on the west end of the amusement park next to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The comedy stage is 21+ and doors open around 6PM, and runs until about 9pm.
Twilight on the Pier runs every Wednesday evening from August 21 – September 25th. This is a free event with plenty of activities for all guests including live music on the Twilight main stage, fun Instagrammable moments and art throughout the Pier, and more performance art at the west end.
