The Pacific Wheel will once again light up for love this Valentine’s Day weekend with a special light program that features hearts and fun emojis.

Angelenos can enjoy a romantic ride on a 90-foot-tall Ferris wheel while hearing the sweet sounds of waves crashing and catching the beautiful sights of hearts and love emojis in lights all on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, February 14 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California.

Pacific Park’s Ferris wheel is a can’t-miss spot in USA Today’s “The Romantic Places for Couples in Los Angeles” and Westways magazine cites the Ferris wheel as one of Los Angeles’ “Great Places to Make a Romantic Proposal.”

“Not just love will be in the air on Valentine’s Day but guests riding our Ferris wheel will also be 130 feet above the Pacific Ocean while enjoying one of the most romantic views in Los Angeles,” says Nathan Smithson, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. “Guests will also be treated to the calming and enchanting sounds of waves breaking on the beach at one of Southern California’s most famous locations.”

Guests not able to can enjoy the romantic sights and wavy sounds of Valentine’s Day in person at Pacific Park can enjoy the Ferris wheel lights program online at www.pacpark.com/live.

Month of Love! Celebrated at the Merry-go-round

The Pier is for first-loves, best friends, “I Do’s”, and millions of memories, and these moments are what give the Pier its sense of magic. To celebrate Valentine’s Day and the Month of Love, The Santa Monica Pier Corporation is compiling your stories and sharing them on social media and in a special display inside the historic Looff Hippodrome. These stories will be available to view throughout the Month of Love; share your story here!

Have you held hands with a loved one while strolling the Pier deck? Shared an ice cream cone with your significant other? Braved the roller coaster with your best friend? Watched the sunset at the West End or proposed to the love of your life in the Carousel?

Share your story here with them here.

The Pacific Wheel’s 174,000 LED lights are mounted on the Ferris wheel’s structure including the 40 spokes and two hubs. The world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel’s lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations while the programming and display software present imaging up to 24 frames per second to display dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment. The eco-friendly, enhanced LED lighting provides 81 percent greater energy savings than most Ferris wheel’s traditional incandescent bulbs.

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, LA’s only admission-free amusement park, offers 12 amusement rides, 14 midway games, an oceanfront food plaza, and beachside shopping. In addition to the Pacific Wheel solar-powered Ferris wheel, Pacific Park’s signature rides include The West Coaster, a steel roller coaster that races 55 feet above Santa Monica Bay; and Inkie’s Air Lift Balloon Ride, the high-flying, family-sharing kids’ ride.
