Diamond-certified artist The Weeknd has just announced the release date for his new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. Plus, he’s also announced an exciting, one-off stadium show on January 25. That’s why Pacific Park is celebrating with a special Pacific Wheel lighting for the The Weeknd.

 The Weeknd’s New Album

Due for release on on January 24, 2025, Hurry Up Tomorrow serves as the final chapter in his album trilogy, following After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022). Additionally, Spotify just announced that The Weeknd is the first artist in history to have 22 songs with over 1 billion streams each.

Tickets for Rose Bowl Show Now Onsale

To celebrate the album release, The Weeknd will perform at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Impressively, the stage will take over the entire floor of the stadium for a must-see “in-the-round” experience.

The Rose-Bowl stadium performance comes on the heels of The Weeknd’s recent one-night-only stadium show at Estádio MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil. The Weeknd’s record-breaking After Hours Til Dawn Tour (2022/2023) achieved phenomenal success, with over 60 sold-out stadium shows across North America, Europe, the UK, and Latin America.

Riding the Pacific Wheel at Pacific Park

While you’re at the Santa Monica Pier seeing the Ferris wheel Lighting for The Weeknd, hop on a ride! Pacific Park is open in the evenings and is full of fun. The Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel is a great way to see the dazzling sights of Santa Monica.

Pacific Park regularly programs the Ferris wheel to display seasonal programing and themed light designs for holidays and special occasions. We installed the Pacific Wheel’s state-of-the-art lighting package in 2016.It can display over 1.6 million different colors and animate patterns and icons in 24 frames per second.

Solar arrays inside Pacific Park power the energy-efficient LEDs on the face of the Ferris wheel. Pacific Park staff  curate and designe the light programs. Because each design is manually animated, some designs can take hours of programming. The aim is to provide fun, high-energy, and sometimes whimsical designs to entertain guests on the Santa Monica Pier and surrounding beaches.
